Mass production of the world's smallest Bluetooth® 4.0 Smart Module

On February 12, 2014 , TDK Corporation (President: Kazuhiro Kazuhiro) developed an ultra-small Bluetooth® module (product name: SESUB-PAN-T2541) that is most suitable for wearable devices that will become popular in the future. Mass production will begin in February 2014.

This product uses the company's own IC built-in substrate (SESUB), and the Bluetooth® IC is built into the substrate, and the circuit components such as a crystal oscillator, a band-pass filter, and a capacitor are mounted on the substrate, thereby realizing the world. Bluetooth® 4.0 Smart module with a minimum * size (4.6 x 5.6 x 1.0mm). This size saves 64% of the substrate footprint compared to the discrete type.

In place of smartphones, it is now wearable devices such as glasses and watches. Wearable devices are used to wirelessly communicate with smartphones, tablets, personal computers, etc., which use Bluetooth®. The product supports the latest Bluetooth® standard, Bluetooth® 4.0 Smart (alias Bluetooth® Low Energy), which consumes only about 1/4 of the power of Bluetooth® and is a low-power product. Used in battery drives, it is the most suitable module for wearable devices that require small size, light weight and low power consumption.
