Wright Optoelectronics: Accelerating the construction of its own brand

Constrained by the European debt crisis and increasing market competition pressure, many LED listed companies' 2011 financial reports showed that sales growth rate has slowed down to varying degrees. With the involvement of relevant government policies and resource integration in the upstream and downstream of the industry chain, 2012 will be a key year for the LED industry to reshuffle.

With LED packaging as the leading factor, Shenzhen Wright Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Wright Optoelectronics”), which is in the field of LED indoor lighting, maintained its rapid growth in performance in 2011.

It is understood that with the establishment of the company's China Taiwan International Trade Company and the Dongguan base, Wright Optoelectronics has completed the construction of two industrial bases in Shenzhen and Dongguan, as well as strategic layouts in Hong Kong, Taiwan, East China, North China, Northeast China and Southwest China. Feng Haitao, general manager of Wright Optoelectronics, said that this year the company is expected to achieve a 60%-70% increase in global sales.

Wright Optoelectronics was established in 2000 in Hong Kong, China. In 2004, it shifted its strategic focus to the Chinese mainland market. Since Feng Haitao worked in the Guangbao Group earlier, Wright Optoelectronics received great support in technology and management.

Since then, the company has successfully become the largest LED agent of Lite-On Group in mainland China, representing all its optoelectronic products.

Under the technical support of Lite-On Group, Wright Optoelectronics began planning its own packaging brand in 2004 - Wright brand building. In 2011, Wright shareholders invested in the establishment of LED lighting brand - Green. In 2011, the company successfully signed a contract with Samsung LED backlight series products, becoming one of the only three first-class agents in mainland China. According to Feng Haitao's idea, the future backlight series will become the new growth point of Wright Optoelectronics together with lighting.

Acting and packaging started

In recent years, because the government's support policies have given the industry a "wrong" investment orientation, everyone has only seen huge business opportunities and neglected the quagmire before business opportunities. Feng Haitao said that in the case that the LED downstream general lighting market has not been fully opened, the blind investment of various capitals has made the external performance of overcapacity increasingly obvious.

In addition, the innovation of LED technology and the non-standardization of products have brought certain difficulties to the healthy development of the industry. “There is no standard market that makes lighting companies have the illusion of having the opportunity to impact the 'Boss' throne.” Feng Haitao said that companies with no technology fight for price, and technology companies are eventually dragged into the mud of price wars. This chaotic price war is particularly evident in the domestic LED industry.

It is reported that Wright Optoelectronics started from the agent and package. The packaged products cover lighting, indicator lights, home appliances, display and other fields. The company has signed long-term supply agreements with the top five communication companies in the world. Based on this, last year's less prosperous LED packaging market still brought about 60 million sales to Wright Optoelectronics, accounting for nearly 60% of total sales.
