Inverter motor rotor noise is typically caused by the fan sound or brush friction. However, in some cases, a loud drum-like noise may occur unexpectedly. This usually happens when the motor starts and stops abruptly, especially during frequent reverse braking. The torque fluctuation from the inverter motor can cause the core and shaft to loosen, leading to severe rubbing between the iron core and the key, which results in audible noise.

There are four main reasons for this issue when connecting with the working machine:

  1. If the coupling or pulley bearing bush is too loose, it can lead to heavy rubbing between the coupling and the key due to torque pulsation. Measuring the diameter of the shaft and the coupling or pulley can help identify the problem, as even small deviations of 0.01 mm can cause issues.
  2. Worn or deformed coupling bolts can also generate rubbing sounds. If the outer surface of the coupling bolt sleeve is worn or the gap between the bolt and sleeve increases, the torque ripple will cause noise. It's important to remove and inspect the bolts to determine the extent of the damage.
  3. Insufficient lubrication in gear couplings can lead to tooth wear and poor meshing, resulting in abnormal noises like rubbing. This often happens due to oil leakage, so checking the oil level and condition is essential.
  4. A slack or worn belt can cause slippage between the belt and pulley, creating unusual sounds. Regularly checking the tension and wear of the belt, and replacing or adjusting it when necessary, can prevent such problems.

Understanding these causes and addressing them promptly can significantly reduce noise and improve the performance and lifespan of the inverter motor system. Proper maintenance and regular inspections are key to ensuring smooth operation and minimizing unwanted sounds.
