Mineral insulated cable features

1, mineral insulated cable structure composition:

The mineral insulated cable is composed of a high conductivity copper conductor, inorganic magnesium oxide insulation, and a seamless copper tube sheath.

2, mineral insulated cable working temperature:

The mineral insulated cable has a continuous working temperature of 250°C; it can work near the melting point of 1083°C of copper in a short or extraordinary period of time (the melting point of magnesia is 2800°C); it can supply power continuously for 3 hours at 950°C-1000°C.

3, mineral insulated cable features:

1) Fire resistance:

The two materials used in mineral insulated cables, copper and magnesium oxide, are inorganic. This cable will not burn, it will not support combustion, and it can continue to operate under conditions close to the flame. The copper sheath melts at 1083°C, while the magnesium oxide insulator cures at 2800°C.

2) High operating temperature Mineral insulated cable can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 250°C. However, in an emergency, the cable can be operated at a temperature close to the melting point of the copper sheath for a short period of time.

3) Long life The inorganic materials used in mineral insulated cables can guarantee the stability, long life and fire resistance of cables.

4) The highly compacted insulating material in the explosion-proof mineral insulated cable prevents steam, gas and flame from passing between the equipment parts connected to the cable.

5) The diameter of the small-diameter mineral insulated cable is smaller than other cables with the same rated current.

6) Waterproofing If the mineral insulated cable is completely immersed in water, the mineral insulated cable can continue to operate with its seamless metal sheath.

7) High mechanical strength The mineral insulated cable is rugged and durable and can withstand severe mechanical damage without compromising its electrical properties.

8) Large current carrying capacity For cables with the same cross section, mineral insulated cables transmit higher current than other types of cables. At the same time, mineral insulated cables can also withstand considerable overload.

9) Short-circuit fault ratings At the same temperature, the short-circuit fault rating of mineral insulated cables is significantly higher than other types of cables.

10) Grounding For mineral insulated cables, a separate grounding conductor is not required because the copper jacket used for this cable has acted as a grounding conductor and provides excellent low grounding resistance. For Grounded Skin Circuit (ESR) wiring, in a MEN (Multi-Ground Neutral) system, the outer copper sheath can be used as a ground and neutral conductor.

11) Corrosion resistance The copper jacket of high mineral insulated cables is highly resistant to corrosion and for most installations it does not require additional protective measures. Where the copper sheathing of the cable is subject to chemical corrosion or serious industrial contamination, a plastic sheathed plastic insulated sheathed cable shall be used.
