Longda Electronics turned profitable in 2017 and trial production in the second quarter of Zhangzhou New Factory

Longda Electronics, a vertically integrated LED manufacturer based in Taiwan, recently released its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2017 and the full year. The company reported a decline in revenue during the last quarter of 2017, with consolidated revenue reaching 2.7 billion yuan, a decrease of 14.8% compared to the previous quarter. Despite this, the gross profit margin remained stable at 14.8%, slightly down by 0.6 percentage points from the previous quarter, but increased by 20.5 percentage points for the full year. This marked a six-year high for the annual gross profit margin, reaching 14.9%. The company also turned a net profit of approximately 129 million yuan, with an earnings per share of 0.25 yuan, signaling a successful recovery in profitability.

The improved performance was attributed to continuous adjustments in product mix, enhanced production efficiency, and increased shipments of high-end products. For 2017, Longda Electronics focused on improving overall profitability by optimizing three key areas: product mix optimization, operational efficiency improvements, and investment in advanced product technologies. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand its offerings in high-tech lighting modules and premium display backlight solutions. Additionally, it aims to accelerate the development and market entry of new applications such as automotive, sensors, biometrics, and UV technology. The company is also pushing forward with mass production of Mini LED and VCSEL 3D sensing products, positioning itself for future growth in emerging markets.

In addition to these strategic moves, Longda Electronics has completed construction of its new plant in Zhangzhou, Anhui Province. The facility is expected to be installed by March 2018, with trial production scheduled for the second quarter of the same year. Recruitment and training efforts are currently underway, as the company prepares for full-scale operations. Once operational, the Zhangzhou plant will serve as the third production base in mainland China, following Suzhou and Xiamen. The plant will handle chip manufacturing, packaging, component assembly, and final product assembly, reinforcing Longda's commitment to vertical integration and long-term growth in the region.
