Changing the route Apple HomePod did not intend to join the voice assistant

This year, an intriguing trend has emerged in the audio industry. The once quiet world of audio devices has suddenly become highly competitive. Major internet companies and hardware manufacturers have poured significant resources into developing smart speakers. Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple have all either independently or collaboratively launched their own smart speaker products. Apple introduced the HomePod last year, but it wasn't until 2018 that the smart version was officially released. However, the integration of Siri into the HomePod didn’t live up to expectations. While the device received praise for its sound quality, other features were considered rather basic. According to insiders, the development of the HomePod began as early as 2012, but Apple initially intended it just as a high-quality speaker, without any voice assistant functionality. The inclusion of voice technology was more of a temporary detour. This strategy aimed to let users focus on the superior audio performance. Furthermore, reports suggest that the HomePod’s voice recognition system uses Beats technology, allowing it to pick up commands clearly even in noisy environments or from another room. However, despite this, the smart speaker is limited to handling only simple instructions. Even the Siri on the HomePod isn’t as advanced as the one found on iPhones. This revelation has left many Apple fans feeling disappointed. In addition, Tim Cook has commented on the company's approach, stating that Apple’s new products are always ahead of what consumers and competitors expect. He mentioned that development often takes longer than anticipated. Yet, in the case of the HomePod, Apple appears to have lagged behind in the smart speaker race.
