Toshiba launches transmissive single-sided OLED panel

Recently, Toshiba exhibited a technology called transmissive single-sided OLED panel, which allows an OLED panel to remain transparent while still emitting light.
The transparent OLED panel is not new. Samsung has already exhibited its own products at the CES show in January this year; the OLED panel has also been released. However, these two functions are currently not peacefully coexisting on the OLED panel.
On a conventional OLED light-emitting panel, the panel becomes transparent only after the light is turned off. After power is applied, light is emitted from both sides of the panel. As a result, the panel's energy consumption will increase and its control will be reduced.
But Toshiba uses a non-transparent electrode. In fact, the opaque metal electrodes and gaps on the panel form a fine strip of strips that allow "transmitted" light to pass through. It is not completely transparent, Toshiba said, the product's light transmittance is 68%. This panel can be transparent on one side and dark on the other. So even if the OLED panel is lit, the line of sight can still penetrate.
It is reported that this O LED display with a thickness of only 1.4mm is expected to be used in the advertising field or for goggles that can illuminate the work area. The aquarium is also a potential use area. The panel has a brightness between 450 and 800 lumens and consumes 0.7-1.6W.
