Note 7 also has IP68 waterproof function, support SD memory card, battery capacity of 3500 mA.
For the VR experience more important screen, Note 7 uses a 5.7-inch surface Super AMOLED screen, still 2K resolution (2560 x 1440). In addition, Note 7 is the first Samsung smartphone to use the USB Type-C interface.
Going back to the new Gear VR, compared to the old models, this time the all-black color (both inside and outside) was adopted. The biggest change is to support the USB-C interface, and the connection to the phone becomes modular. The new Gear VR can work directly with Note 7 using its Type-C interface.
Samsung has not forgotten the old users and added a Micro USB connector for the new model to enable it to support Note 5 and other S7 and S6 phones backwards. And this connector is not an adapter, but it is built into the Gear VR and you can pull it out for use with older phones.
Samsung said that the reason why the S7 and S7 Edge still use the USB interface, in part, is to fit the Gear VR. It now appears that the company is carefully shifting to the USB-C interface while not forgetting support for the old device.
The Micro USB interface on the bottom of the head was replaced by a USB-C interface this time. In the past, this interface was designed to connect to the power supply during use. Because VR consumes too much power, Samsung said that the new interface can transmit data in addition to charging. This makes a variety of VR accessories possible, such as dynamic capture handles and the like. This will have a huge impact on the Gear VR experience.
The new Gear VR is replaced with a black with some blue color for a reason, Samsung said this is because some users complain that the white used inside will reflect light, affecting the sense of immersion. The washers used for the head display are softer and thicker this time, making the wearing experience more comfortable.
Other changes that help improve immersion include raising the field of view to 101 degrees, which has always been 96 degrees, but there is no obvious change in the actual experience.
There is also a touch version that has also been improved, once again becoming even more flat, and a button that specializes in returning to the main interface menu, just next to the back button.
Overall, the Gear VR and Note 7 updates are small upgrades, mainly continuation of the old product. But this does not prevent them from continuing to be one of the best mobile VR products as well as the best smartphones.
