Molex, a global leader in electronic components, introduces the innovative Mini50 unsealed connector system designed for compact, wire-to-board applications. As the smallest automotive-grade unsealed connector system in the industry, the Mini50 is the only USCAR-certified interface suitable for unsealed vehicle environments. This new solution addresses the growing demand for smaller, more efficient connectivity in modern vehicles.
USCAR, the U.S. Council for Automotive Research, promotes collaborative development of advanced automotive technologies. Compared to traditional 0.64mm connectors, the Mini50 USCAR 050 certified interface offers 50% space savings while maintaining minimal terminal counts. It's ideal for low-current circuits in unsealed vehicle interiors, such as lighting, infotainment, HVAC systems, and camera modules. The compact design allows for reduced harness weight, enabling customers to use smaller wire gauges and streamline production.
The Mini50 connector system features an integrated secondary locking (ISL) mechanism that reduces component count and enhances reliability. PCB connectors are available in vertical and right-angle configurations, offering greater flexibility in wire routing and module design. Additionally, the high-temperature thermoplastic housing can withstand infrared and lead-free wave soldering at temperatures up to 260°C, ensuring durability in harsh environments.
Available in single-row 4- and 8-circuit models, as well as dual-row 12-circuit configurations, the Mini50 series meets USCAR standards. These connectors come with through-hole and SMT options, making them versatile for various manufacturing processes. The Mini50 has been selected as the standard 050 interface by USCAR, highlighting its role in shaping the future of automotive connectivity.
