Analysts Raise the Expected Shipment of China's PC Market in 2011

According to foreign media reports, despite the sluggish global PC market, DisplaySearch, a market research organization, still raised its 2011 PC shipment expectations for the Chinese PC market, with Lenovo continuing to dominate.

China’s PC shipments and forecast report released by DisplaySearch showed that the analyst agency raised its 2011 PC shipment forecast in China, including desktops, all-in-one computers and mobile PCs (laptops, mini-notebooks, and tablet PCs). 95 million units were raised to over 100 million units, an increase of 25% over the same period last year.

DisplaySearch analyst Robin Wu said that despite the global demand slump, but the performance of the Chinese PC market is still better than the rest of the world, the growth rate exceeds expectations. Based on this, DisplaySearch has raised its forecast for desktop shipments in the Chinese market in 2011 to 52.4 million units from 51.6 million units, and unit shipments are expected to increase from 2.5 million units to 3.8 million units. Mobile PC shipments are expected to increase from 40.8 million units to 47.4 million units.

DisplaySearch once predicted that the shipment of tablet PCs in the Chinese market will reach 3.4 million units, but shipments in the second quarter of 2011 will reach 2.4 million units. This mainly benefits from aggressive pricing strategies such as Lenovo. DisplaySearch therefore expects to increase the shipment of tablet PCs in the Chinese market to 10 million units in 2011, accounting for about 10% of the market share of the entire PC market.

Apple will continue to be a leader in China’s tablet PCs, and Lenovo, Acer and Samsung will continue to work hard. Lenovo launched a $155 7-inch A1 Lepad tablet, which has a price advantage and will surely stimulate shipments in the future.
