Foreword
A few days ago, I was feeling a bit bored. I had a picture of Aunt Zhang’s app on my phone, and she showed me some desktop presentations (she mentioned something about DC saliva, and I remember thinking I’d have to clean my cool desktop one day). But when the current desktop isn’t exposed to direct sunlight, it seems like there’s a rabbit involved, and it made me think of Zhang Aunt’s debut.
Reasons to Purchase
Rather than calling this a purchase reason, it’s more like how to get it. The rabbit is delivered by a little boy during the full moon (thanks for the dumplings here), and I’ve been curious about Xiaomi products for a while but never pulled the trigger. It’s not easy to go from developing mobile phone systems to making mobile phones and electronics. I’m not sure if this is the right time or the wrong time. Ultimately, I’m not sure if I should focus on one thing or spread myself thin.
Appearance Gallery
This is supposed to be a GIF but somehow turned into static.
 Pretending to be unboxing.
Hey, how did my ears fly off?
 Car to steal the spotlight.
One-second grid change, holding the entire scene live.
Taking off the hat, ugly crying in the toilet.
 The back is very ecstatic.
The appearance is acceptable for a child’s toy rabbit, though the Lei Feng hat does look a bit odd. Without the hat, it might seem a bit plain, but apparently, a child once saw the rabbit without the hat and got scared to tears—whether this is true or not, I’m not sure.
Experience Feelings
Work Experience
The craftsmanship of the rabbit reflects the quality that a manufacturer like Xiaomi should have. The shell is smooth, and the assembly is tight. There are five buttons on the body, with keys that have a moderate amount of strength, and they haven’t made any noise in several months. The hat material is soft and odorless. (Additionally, you can buy other outfits through the Xiaomi Mall.) The ear material is silicone, which is not only colorful but also allows kids to grind their teeth.

Three Months Experience
Looking at children is tough work. With the Xiaomi rabbit, children have something fun to engage with (currently, my child is only six months old, so they’re not really interested in the rabbit yet, but we’re using it for prenatal education by playing music). The first time you use the rabbit, you’ll need to connect it to your home’s Wi-Fi network. The steps are quite straightforward. Not only can you listen to the built-in 8GB of stories, children’s songs, ancient poems, and other resources (officially referred to as over 800 stories), but you can also access an online library of over 10,000 stories. You can select the stories via the Mi Rabbit app on your mobile phone. The basic built-in content is already sufficient to keep a child entertained, let alone the online resources, which the official says are regularly updated. In theory, the stories told by the rabbit could last a child well into adulthood.
Aside from storytelling, the rabbit can be linked to multiple WeChat accounts. Once linked, pressing the WeChat button in the center of the rabbit sends a voice message to the associated WeChat account. Currently, my child is too young to use this feature, but I can imagine that as they grow older, they could communicate with their mother through the rabbit. “Mom, when you come home from work, please buy me some good food…†It would be a great experience since WeChat is such an integral part of our lives.
Mi Rabbit also has a voice assistant-like function, located at the bottom front button. Pressing it allows you to ask questions like “What’s the weather like today?†or “How’s it going today?†Children can chat with the rabbit and learn new things. We all know that children often ask questions, and adults rarely have the time to answer them. Using the rabbit to chat with the baby could be a great way to engage with them. Besides asking Siri-like questions, you can also directly request on-demand stories or nursery rhymes. For instance, saying “Play the story of the gourd siblings†to Mi Rabbit will make it play the appropriate song.
One boring afternoon, I was looking at my baby in the bedroom. Out of boredom, I pressed the voice key and said, “Play Confession Balloon.†Surprisingly, it actually played the Confession Balloon song—not by Jay Chou, but it was still exciting. The sound effects of the rabbit are quite good. However, some songs couldn’t be found, and due to my limited English skills, I didn’t attempt to play English songs. I’m not sure if it can play English songs. Most common songs are available, but some obscure ones would respond with, “Sorry, I can’t find a matching story, please try another.†Many times, it might be due to copyright issues. The songs that were found weren’t necessarily sung by the original artist.
Shortcomings
The main downside is the two buttons above and below. They aren’t intuitive. For example, I just played “Gourd Brothers,†and after it finished, I clicked the left button expecting it to replay, but instead, it played a different song. I’m not sure if this is intentional or a bug. Either way, if you want to hear a specific song again, it’s not easy unless you know the exact name of the song.
Another issue is the charging. Xiaomi didn’t include a proper charging cable. All you get is a manual and a random data cable. The charger on the box outputs 5V 500mA, which is hard to find nowadays. You can only use the original Nokia charger, and I’m not sure if using a mainstream 5V 1A or 5V 2A charger poses any risks.
To Sum Up
At 199 yuan, it’s worth it. The standby time is long, the sound quality is decent, and there are plenty of children’s songs and stories. Whether you’re buying it for your own child or as a gift for friends and family, it’s a good choice. If Xiaomi included a standard charging head, it would be perfect. At 199 yuan, it’s a regular price, but if you can catch it during Double 11 or 618, there might be discounts.
