Geosynthetics straight shear
[Experiment Method]:
1. Place the sample flat on a rigid horizontal base located in the lower portion of the shear box, with the front end clamped in the shear zone. If using adhesive between the sample and the base, ensure it is applied properly. After bonding, the specimen should remain flat without any folds or wrinkles. Any relative slippage between the sample and the base during the test must be avoided.

The alumina standard friction base can be unbonded. Once bonded, the sample must remain stable and free from deformation throughout the testing process.
2. Install the shear box by filling the upper shear box with pre-standard quality sand. The thickness of the sand should be 50mm, uniformly distributed, and compacted to a dry density of 1750kg/m³.
3. Install the horizontal loading system and apply a normal pressure of 50kPa (equivalent to hanging a benchmark weight of 50kPa). Additional standard weights can be used to increase the pressure in increments of 50kPa, up to a maximum of 200kPa.
4. Apply a horizontal load at a controlled rate of 1mm/min ± 0.2mm/min. Measure the shear force (T) and corresponding displacement (ΔL) continuously or intermittently at intervals of 12 seconds. The test continues until the shear surface reaches 16.5% of the total length, at which point the machine will automatically stop.
5. Operating steps for the liquid crystal display table:
1) Turn on the power switch.
2) Press the function key to start a new test.
3) Enter the required test speed and press Enter. The screen will display: "shear force", "shear stress", "peak", and "displacement".
4) Press the start button to begin the test. The first test applies a normal stress of 50kPa, and upon completion, the system automatically proceeds to the next level: 100kPa, 150kPa, and 200kPa.
5) The displacement counter starts, and the test continues until the total contact surface reaches 16.5%. When the test is complete, the machine stops, and the results are displayed. If the data is valid, press the confirm button.
6) Press the function key to access the result query and view the recorded data.
7) Press OK to print the results, and the printer will begin operation.
