Hardware technology standards for true VR devices

Weng Zhibin, founder and CEO of Xiaopai Technology, believes that VR peers should respect the three technical standards of the VR industry. The gyroscope, the angle of view above 90° and the delay control within 20ms can be called real VR devices.

Small 4K VR

Gyro: The VR device must have a gyroscope. VR devices require a sufficiently accurate method to determine the speed, angle and distance of head rotation, which can be achieved using inertial gyroscopes (reactive but poor precision) or optical methods.

Total delay: the total delay of the MTP (MoTIon-to-photons latency, the sum of the delays generated in a period from head movement to seeing a new image on the screen), by motion input, sensor, graphics card The engine, display transmission, screen time and new image are composed of several factors. In theory, the delay control is not visible to the naked eye within 19.3 ms. According to statistics, at present, only a few manufacturers with core technologies can control the delay to 20ms.

Field of view: The horizontal field of view in the relaxed state of the human eye is about 120 degrees. The larger the field of view of the device, the better the immersion. 95° is already the minimum of the VR field of view. A device with an angle of view of less than 90° may cause splicing of the field of view and the external environment because it is smaller than the normal market angle of the human eye, which seriously affects the immersion.

Weng Zhibin particularly stressed that more technical standards are more conducive to promoting the healthy development of VR equipment in China. The small school reiterated the three major hardware technical standards of "gyro + field of view > 90 degrees + total delay < 20 seconds.

The small 4K VR field of view achieves 110°, 58-71mm pitch adaptation and 0-500° myopia adaptation. It is equipped with a large-diameter double aspherical lens with a diameter of 53mm, which fully meets the user's immersive experience requirements from the hardware level. For the vertigo that is still difficult to bypass for most VR devices, the small 4K is solved by configuring the dual gyroscope and controlling the delay rate to 18ms.

Weng Zhibin believes that in foreign countries, VR technology has a certain time accumulation and inheritance, and the domestic VR field is more like a leap-forward development.
