According to Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business, the Mate10 completed a task of identifying 100 photos in just 5 seconds, compared to 9 seconds on the iPhone 8 Plus.

Samsung introduced Bixby on the Galaxy S8, offering voice, visual, home, and reminder modules to make phones smarter and more intuitive. At the AIWorld 2017 conference, Zhang Daijun from Samsung Electronics China Research Institute emphasized the importance of combining AI with real-life applications to build consumer habits.
Vivo’s approach focuses on solving real user pain points. The company identified photo-taking and performance optimization as top priorities. With AI, even backlit photos can be clear, and phone performance can be optimized for smoother use. Their Smart Engine 4.0, featured in the X20 model, learns from user behavior, allocates CPU resources intelligently, and boosts GPU performance when needed.
Looking ahead, vivo aims to deepen its AI efforts. Over 15% of its software engineers are already working on AI projects, with plans to increase this to over 25% in 2018. Zhang Daijun believes that AI will continue to evolve rapidly, shifting from biometric recognition to natural language understanding, and eventually integrating seamlessly into daily life scenarios. The next decade promises to be a transformative period for AI, shaping the future of technology and user experiences.
