Taiwan Electronics Times Research Department pointed out recently that with the increasing market share of Chinese mobile phone manufacturers in the world, they will mainly supply from AMOLED screen manufacturers in China.

The above research institutes pointed out that Chinese screen manufacturers have been developing AMOLED technology for a long time, and another production line is under construction. It is estimated that by 2020, the total capacity of China's AMOLED screen manufacturers will reach half of the total capacity of Samsung Display and LG Display. .

Currently in the global market, four companies are preparing to compete for orders for Apple's mobile phone AMOLED screens, namely Samsung Display, LG Display, Japanese Display and Sharp Japan. Among them, Samsung currently has a monopoly advantage, and has already received orders for 100 million AMOLED screens for Apple's mobile phones in 2017. When producing AMOLED panels, the yield of volatile luminescent materials becomes a bottleneck, and the higher the screen resolution, the lower the yield.

Among Chinese manufacturers, only Huihui Optoelectronics and Xinli Optoelectronics can produce full HD AMOLED screens. It is expected that by the end of this year to the middle of next year, Kunshan Guoxian Optoelectronics, BOE, Tianma Microelectronics and other companies will be able to produce full HD. In the second half of 2014, Samsung Display began to produce flexible AMOLED screens using PI (polyimide) materials. Chinese manufacturers have already introduced similar panel products, but it is not expected to be mass-produced by 2018.

Compared with Apple, Chinese mobile phone manufacturers have used OLED screens in their smartphones for a few years, but they are smaller. Compared with the LCD screen, the OLED screen has better picture quality, larger viewing angle, and more power saving. As the production cost of the OLED screen is gradually reduced, the outside world believes that in the fields of smart phones and large-screen TVs, OLEDs will gradually Replace the old LCD screen.

For Apple, the first launch of this year's OLED mobile phone will face the problem of insufficient supply capacity. So far, LG, Japan Display and Sharp have not yet achieved mass production and cannot jointly supply Apple. It is reported that Apple will adopt a step-by-step model. Only one of the three mobile phones in 2017 will adopt an OLED screen. By 2018, it is expected that all mobile phones will turn to OLED screens.

Although iPhone sales have fallen, Apple is still the most influential company in the global smartphone market. Once Apple abandoned the LCD screen with OLED screen, it is expected that the global mobile phone industry, including Chinese manufacturers, will switch to OLED quickly, which will aggravate the tight supply of global OLED screens.
