Xiaomi Proclaims Again: Retaining the Right to Sue LeTV

On June 17th, after LeTV responded to Xiaomi's three questions, the co-founder of Xiaomi uttered a voice again, saying that LeTV’s remarks seriously affected the user’s perception of the advantages of Xiaomi’s television content and harmed the reputation of Xiaomi’s TV and violated the unfairness of Xiaomi TV. The competition law destroyed the goodwill of Xiaomi and Xiaomi reserved the right to prosecute LeTV.

For Xiaomi and Letv's "war of words", Ding Daoshi, the president of the Institute of Speed ​​Research, told the Daily Economic News that the leading companies in the industry can only continue to compete in order to better serve users. In fact, not only the smart TV field, but also the home appliance chain industry and the herbal tea industry are facing fierce competition, which in turn has increased the overall market size of the industry by 10 times.

Previously, Xiaomi asked three questions about LeTV: Is LeTV's violation of regulations; LeTV's content is less than that of Xiaomi TV's; and whether LeTV's is not mandatory for binding annual fees. On the 16th, in response to the above-mentioned queries, LeTV held a spectacular conference and responded in detail to questions, but this did not seem to satisfy the other party.

In the evening of the same day, Xiaomi said again in response to LeTV’s response. Xiaomi believes that LeTV acknowledged that it had illegally sold smart TVs so far, but was still evasive. Although LeTV promised to work hard to complete the reforms as quickly as possible, it will satisfy the regulatory authorities. Regulatory requirements, but did not fully disclose risks to users and investors.

Zhao Occupy, a well-known IT and intellectual property lawyer, told the Daily Economic News reporter that LeTV's supervision is the broadcast control platform and its content, and it does not regulate the sales of TV hardware. This argument is untenable. I also acknowledge that corrections are being made.

In response to LeTV’s announcement at the press conference that Xiaomi’s “free content is a lot of flowers and pure jokes”, Xiaomi responded that the contents of her own platform did not count the film in it, and her own 5 yuan fee movie was only 71 pieces. Unlike LeTV, all charges are based on a single piece of 5 yuan and require 16,245 yuan.

Ding Daoshi believes that only leading companies in the industry can continue to compete in order to do a good job in this market. Users are actually most concerned about the strategic cooperation or merger between Xiaomi and LeTV as such giants, which would adversely affect the development of the industry. Although the shipments of these two TV sets are less than those of traditional home appliance companies, their appearance has led to a reduction in the prices of traditional home appliance companies, which in turn urges other companies in the industry to make changes.
