Reporter: In the past, many ordinary people thought that “intelligence†seemed to be a professional name that was a little away from everyone. What kind of level do you think China's building intelligence is currently developing?
Zhang Wencai: This formulation has entered a misunderstanding. In fact, ordinary people do not need to understand the details of building intelligent technology. Because it is not necessary, they are users. They need to know how to use it, whether it is practical and applicable, because this Closely related to their daily life and work. But people in this industry must focus on doing well. China's building intelligentization industry has developed rapidly in the past few years, and it is not worse than foreign countries from a system perspective. But on the whole, our practitioners, including many system integrators, are not very comprehensive. They often like to consider the function of the project from a single technology, but not comprehensively. Of course, this is an inevitable problem in the development process. In general, China's intelligent buildings in the past decade have been a process of continuous development and gradual improvement.
Reporter: Why the concept of "smart building" was vague and seemed to be different from foreign countries. In addition, the smart community also enters the new category of “smart buildingsâ€. What does this mean?
Zhang Wencai: Conceptually, it is basically the same at home and abroad. It used to be different because different countries have different understandings of things in development. “Smart Community†should be said to be a title with Chinese characteristics. It is included in “smart buildingâ€, emphasizing a living environment and concept, emphasizing green, environmental protection, energy conservation, and the state now has policy support, and will vigorously develop community intelligence in the future. This is the right path.
Reporter: The Expert Committee on Building Intelligent Technology of the Ministry of Construction has concentrated on the best experts in building intelligence in the country. What kind of responsibility does she shoulder?
Zhang Wencai: The Expert Committee on Building Intelligent Technology of the Ministry of Construction is serving as a staff member for the government. The Intelligent Expert Committee is composed of a solid professional basic theoretical knowledge, has long been engaged in intelligent building engineering design, construction and research work, has rich practical experience and strong policy level, presided over or undertaken a number of large-scale complex projects, and achieved major domestic The award consists of experts in intelligent building engineering design, construction, product development, information engineering, fire protection, security and other aspects.
The main scope of duties and basic tasks of the Intelligent Expert Committee include assisting the competent government departments to complete the planning and regulations of the building intelligent industry; entrusted by the competent government departments to undertake industry technology and quality management (including quality supervision of major engineering projects, optimization of survey and design plans) Investigate, analyze, and identify issues related to review, identification and arbitration of major engineering quality accidents, and put forward suggestions and suggestions; participate in feasibility study and risk assessment of major investment projects, and accept technical consultation on organizational construction projects; Engaged in bid evaluation activities for large-scale intelligent buildings and related industry projects bidding; participated in the construction of new technologies and new products in the intelligent building industry.
Reporter: You have hosted and participated in the construction of many national key projects, especially the key Olympic projects like the National Stadium. What are their characteristics in terms of intelligence? What kind of help is there for the success of the Beijing Olympic Games?
Zhang Wencai: The government advocates the science and technology Olympics. The Olympic Games needs to consider relevant matches. The Olympic Games cannot be separated from the use of networks and communications, and it is inseparable from the improvement of information infrastructure, which is inseparable from intelligent security. News center information dissemination, television broadcast, security and so on are all very important roles for the Olympic Games. The intelligentization of the building can realize the integration and automation of building management, provide a good working environment, provide prevention of sudden failures, improve the operating efficiency of the equipment, and meet the requirements of safety, comfort and economic operation of the Olympic building. At the same time, it will better ensure the advanced nature of building performance, improve the environment of Olympic venues, Olympic villages, hotels and office buildings, improve the level of security technology, and improve the level of building management. These applications are the embodiment of the Olympics and the Green Olympics and are an important part of the Beijing Olympics.
Reporter: Do you think there are any major obstacles to the development of intelligent buildings in China? What are the main obstacles? What do you think about the prospects of China's smart building development?
Zhang Wencai: I don't think there are any major obstacles to the development of China's smart buildings, whether it is in policy, concept or technology. I feel that we must adhere to the principles of practicality and application. Some projects are relatively large, but the results are not good, because many functions are not necessary, resulting in unnecessary waste. At the same time, we see that the owners are constantly making progress and have more new understandings, which will make the choice of the owners more rational.
The prospects for the development of smart buildings in China are very good. In addition to the acceptance of people's ideas and the support of national policies, there are many major projects in the country. The Beijing Olympic Games, the Shanghai World Expo, and the Guangzhou Asian Games will also be held. These large-scale events require more intelligent elements in stadiums, exhibition halls, hotels, and other public places, and also drive a series of intelligent applications.

Profile Zhang Wencai graduated from Tsinghua University in 1974. He taught at the Department of Automation of Tsinghua University from 1974 to 1980 and worked at the China Architectural Design and Research Institute from 1980 to the present. During the period from 1984 to 1986, he went to Canada as a visiting scholar to study building electrical design.
For more than 20 years, he has participated in the design, proofreading, review and validation of dozens of large and medium-sized civil buildings.
