Hyperspectral imagers are optical imaging sensors that also have the function of a spectrometer. They distinguish between multiple wavelengths of light reflected from the Earth's surface and use characteristic spectral signals to identify materials and objects. Adjusting a wide or continuous field of view and a wide spectrum of spectra often produces a number of G files. The HDPU is a modified commercial shelving system that provides adjustment data processing and storage capabilities in a compact and rugged solid-state window designed for airborne applications. The HDPU is supported by both Windows and Linux operating systems and is preloaded with Headwall's Hyperspec III software. The electronics in the chassis include a 2.2 GHz Intel i7 dual-core processor, 4 gigabytes of DDR3 SDRAM running at 1333 MHz, and a SATA3 SSD with 512 gigabytes of storage capacity. RS-232, Cameral ink, USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet, including the type of lock. It operates on 14 to 30 volts of DC power and consumes 150 watts.
