VR Softbank will invest in VR to create Improbable

Informed sources disclosed that Softbank Group will soon invest in Improbable Worlds, a London VR startup that has been supported by US VC fund Andreessen Horowitz.

The two sides will reach an agreement as soon as this week, and it is not yet known how much Softbank will receive, because no final decision has yet been made.

So far Improbable Worlds has raised about 20 million U.S. dollars, led by Andreessen Horowitz, whose main goal is to create ultra-realistic analog and virtual worlds. Recently, Improbable Worlds worked with the British government to try to simulate the entire Internet.

Improbable Worlds has established a joint venture with Google Cloud Computing, which is rapidly expanding. In February, Improbable Worlds opened an office in San Francisco and has recruited many executives over the past few months. At present, the company has more than 150 employees and is not yet profitable. Improbable Worlds lost $17.2 million in the year ending May 31 this year.

PMMA Fresnel Lens

Polymethyl methacrylate (polymethyl methacrylate, also known as acrylic or plexiglass), is also known as Agali glue in Hong Kong. It has the advantages of high transparency, low price, and easy processing. It is a commonly used glass substitute material . The polymethyl methacrylate monomer is methyl methacrylate (MMA, acrylic monomer). Excellent transparency and excellent aging resistance; its ratio is less than half of ordinary glass, but its resistance to fragmentation is several times higher. It has good insulation and mechanical strength, and has strong resistance to acids, alkalis, and salts. It is corrosive and easy to process. It can be glued, sawed, plane, drilled, engraved, polished, screen printed, sandblasted and other manual mechanical processing. After heating, the pressure mold can be bent into various acrylic products.

Fresnel Lens is equivalent to infrared and visible light convex lens in many cases, the effect is better, but the cost is much lower than ordinary convex lens. It is mostly used in occasions where accuracy is not very high, such as slide projectors, film magnifiers, infrared detectors, etc.
The Fresnel lens has two functions: one is focusing, that is, the pyro-infrared signal is refracted (reflected) on the PIR, and the second is to divide the detection area into several bright and dark areas, so that it can enter the detection area A moving object can produce a changing pyro-infrared signal on the PIR in the form of a temperature change.
