SIA: Global chip sales increased 58% year-on-year in the first quarter of this year

According to the US Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), in the first quarter of 2010, global semiconductor sales reached US$69.2 billion, an increase of 58.3% compared with US$43.7 billion in the same period last year.

According to SIA, in March 2010, global semiconductor sales increased by 4.6% from the previous month to reach $23.1 billion. Compared with the $14.6 billion in March 2009, it increased by 58.3%.

SIA President George Scalise said, “The foundry and integrated equipment manufacturers are putting into production on a large scale to align supply with expected demand. Due to strong demand in key end markets, we do not expect to see any large inventories or overcapacity in the short term. And so on. Computer and communication business demand for microchips accounted for more than 60% of total demand, both showed good growth."

A Battery Charger supplies current to the base plate. Once the AGV is in charging position and the collector has made contact with the base plate, the AGV computer turns on the current.

The base plate has chamfered entry/exit ramps to facilitate smooth drive-on/drive-off of the spring loaded collector.

Battery charging stations may be installed anywhere within the system where the production process allows the AGV to stop (staging areas, turn arounds, loading stops etc.).
