LED has reached 100lm/w light efficiency

The luminous efficacy of LEDs continues to increase, with new progress reports every month. Recently, San Jose (San Jose, CA) and Agilient Technology Lab announced a new prototype of LED. With a new technology concept, the peak light efficiency has reached 100 lm/w. A new ultra-efficient chip that achieves this high performance is a truncated pyramidal shape that differs from the traditional cube shape in that the output is surprisingly 55%. This new shape of the chip can also be easily mass produced, unlike some other experimental forms. However, new LEDs are also limited to colored. The company's holy grail is a new type of white light-emitting diode with a luminous efficacy of 40 to 50 lm/W. From "Light Sources and Lighting", issue 2001.1
